What's in every package.
The things EECA says a solar quote should cover, in one price. Panel and inverter brands, and the installer's workmanship warranty term, are named in your contract.

Install, then pay the balance
Once it's commissioned and the electrician's certificate is in your hands. EECA says the whole process usually takes 4 weeks or less.

How much do solar panels cost in NZ?
A typical home system costs $11,000 to $13,000 for 5kW, $14,000 to $15,000 for 6.6kW and $15,000 to $18,000 for 10kW installed in 2026 (Solar Scout). We publish our own fixed price for each package once our installer for your region is contracted. See what solar costs.
Is solar worth it for my house?
Usually, if you use a good share of your power during the day and have a sunny, sound roof. EECA says a new system can pay for itself in as little as 7 years, or 10 to 12 years in other situations, and lasts about 25. Run your own numbers in the payback calculator.
Do I need a battery?
Most homes don't. A battery adds roughly $1,219 per kWh of storage installed and stretches payback on solar plus battery to 10 to 14 years (Solar Scout). It makes sense if you use a lot of power after dark or want backup. We don't push one. See the battery add-on.
Who does the install?
We quote the job, manage it and sign one contract with you. The installation and wiring are done by registered electricians from a partner installer we contract in each region. We name the installer before you pay a deposit. See how it works.
Do I need a building consent?
Usually not. Since 23 October 2025, roof-mounted arrays under 40 m² in a wind zone no higher than High are exempt, and larger or more exposed arrays are exempt if a Chartered Professional Engineer designs or reviews them (EWRB).
When do I pay?
$250 to book a site survey, refundable until you sign and credited to your install. After the survey you get a fixed-price contract with a deposit, and the balance is due only once the system is commissioned and the electrician's certificate is in your hands. Full details are in our terms of trade.
